The Argentine Football Association has been fined nearly £200,000 for neglecting to send players to pre-match press conferences at the World Cup.
According to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, Argentina breached the tournament's media and marketing regulations, which require teams to bring at least one player along with the coach to press conferences held one day prior to each match.
However, Argentina, who is set to play against Germany in the final on Sunday, has only sent coach Alejandro Sabella to the past four conferences.
The purpose of the regulations is to "allow media, and ultimately fans, to have an opportunity to follow a team's preparations, while also allowing each team to have the best possible environment for those preparations," says FIFA.
