In a column on Mommy NoirChuck writes, Dear Nicki Minaj, I own AllHipHop.com. AllHipHop has been historically uber supportive of the rapper Nicki Minaj. That's you, homie! When I say historically, we can take it all the way back to when you had to stand in line to get into parties or those grimy underground videos you once pumped out on the streets. You know, that period of time before Lil Wayne and Young Money. Along the way, something changed. Continue… This isn't the change everybody wants to talk about though. No hate there. AllHipHop had published an old image for some reason or another some years ago. You remember the one of you licking a lollipop and evoking the now-classic image of Lil Kim in all of her crotchiness? Of course you remember your version of that image, because you asked us to take it down through a member of the team. The team member let us know that Nicki is no longer on that and is doing a lot to promote a new image – "blah blah blah." But, guess what? Not only do I run AllHipHop, I'm a father, too. For a moment there, I felt like I had briefly peered into the deepest recesses of Nicki Minaj's true inner self, a being that cares how this ratchet s**t affects my kid. I said to myself, "Self, how cool is this? Nicki is already evolving into somebody that my daughter may get to listen to on my watch. Maybe." I've been in the music game a minute now so I know how it goes. So, when I peeped the artwork for your latest single, I wasn't even shocked, I was just disappointed. The song: "Anaconda." The art: your booty in a thong. As a man, I can appreciate the virtues of your perfect posterior. The dad guy is not a happy camper, particularly now that his lil' girl is transitioning into a young lady. Now, the most popular, current Black female rapper starts overtly pushing her hyper-sexualized image again? Just my luck. I'm trying to raise a young girl that will eventually grow into someone greater than the both of us. I know that this requires great parenting, great education, great luck and an assortment of great influences. I'm sure you know the influence you wield, but now, if you told the "Barbs" to scratch my eyes out, some would attack without thinking about it. I'm sure some will also replicate the "Anaconda" image without thinking about it too. Your original image already has 256,817 (and counting) likes under the original Instagram picture you posted, so I venture that your average girl could strive to get a couple hundred likes from her friends. Is this the path you want to lead impressionable kids down? Make no mistake about it, you're a leader now. I love the era of Hip-Hop where I found my influences. They were all over the place, ranging from Chuck D and Public Enemy to LL Cool J to KRS-One and Boogie Down Productions and others like De La Soul. Even the so-called gangster rappers had something to offer. Ice Cube, Scarface and Willie D of the Geto Boys, and Ice-T all get nods for being influential in my upbringing. I don't know all of those that impacted you as a young woman, but how dope would it be if you transcended what people expected of you? Like, how cool would it be for your transformation to extend beyond NOT wearing blonde wigs and crazing clothing? This year alone, Black people lost titans in Maya Angelou and Ruby Dee. Those women were entertainers as well and the impact they have had on the lives of their constituency can never be understated. They SERVED the people and they knew that–without that mutual love and respect, we both cease to exist. Ruby and Maya didn't live perfect lives, but their imperfections made their greatness all the more clear. Imagine you being regarded in such a way? The way Lauryn Hill, Queen Latifah and MC Lyte have been for their communities? I know, times have changed, but one thing is for sure: careers can come and go. Legacy stays. I can't lie. My kid barely knows who you are and if she does, its rooted in "American Idol" or something like that. (She does like your bars on "Shanell's song "Cupid's Got A Gun.") I've sheltered her on purpose though, all the while letting her read about heroic females in music and culture. As she gets older, it will be harder for me to limit her exposure to you, especially if you continue to do headline-grabbing moves like the "Anaconda" cover. I don't want to EVER see her posted up one day emulating you the way I "fought the power" like I was Chuck D's little brother back in 1989. Or, the way you emulated Kim. For a moment, forget my daughter and lets talk about you. My interactions and observations tell me you are this sweet, kind person at heart. When you get a quiet moment answer the following questions. How is Onika Tanya Maraj doing? How does she truly feel about Nick Minaj right now? What is your higher purpose with young girls (and boys)? What is the message you are sending when you determine how you will inspire these young people? How will boys, already conditioned to sexualize girls at a young age, internalize this big booty of yours? Where does the gimmick end and you begin? Believe it or not, I care. I think you are dope. You've bodied some of my favorite artists on songs like "Monster." Yet the possibly of you transcending this gnaws at me, because I know you don't have to succumb to bottom feeding. When the request was made to remove that image from my site, I complied. I complied – not because I had to – but because I truly respected you for taking that position. On the lecture circuit, I've even defended you from those that feel you are a detriment to the community, down to the Barbie imagery. I've done this based on what I think is a glimpse of what you really desire , which is to be a more positive role model of some sort for young girls who are under siege out in these streets. Now, you take this squatting position on the cover of a song called "Anaconda," which I am sure radio will play until its played out. I'll be on Spotify though and so will my daughter when she's with me. All in all, this is a letter born from love.  He donated his organs to the hospital he was being treated in shortly before he passed away.
 This brave and admirable act earned him a bow from the doctors in the hospital, the photo of act has gone viral on the internet.

Michael John Pearce was babysitting Alfie Sullock at his home in a south Wales village while the child's mother, Donna Sullock, went for her first night out since giving birth. Minutes after he texted Sullock reassuring her that the boy was fine and he could be trusted, Pearce dialled 999 to report that Alfie was not breathing. When paramedics arrived at Pearce's home in Nelson, Caerphilly, they found Alfie blue and lifeless and noticed bruising to his face and chest. In hospital a scan found that Alfie had suffered a brain haemorrhage. He died four days later. A postmortem found that the child had suffered a number of injuries to his head and abdomen. Prosecuting Pearce at Newport crown court, Michael Mather Lees QC claimed that Alfie was not hurt in a "moment of exasperation" but was "repeatedly beaten". He said: "This was not a moment of exasperation that can happen with a screaming child. This was a baby repeatedly beaten with objects. This is not a case of a baby developing sudden death syndrome. This was a child who was badly beaten." Pearce, a motorcycle mechanic, claimed he had no idea how Alfie came by his injuries. He said he left Alfie for "30 seconds" while he went to the toilet and noticed the child had stopped breathing on his return. Pearce also claimed that paramedics shook Alfie on their arrival, which ambulance staff dispute. In the witness box, Sullock was asked whether she could have hurt Alfie as she got ready to go out. She replied: "No, I was always very careful. He was so small. He was a newborn baby." Pearce was found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter and faces life imprisonment. The jury was told that Sullock, from Cardiff, discovered she had become pregnant while working as a holiday rep in Crete. The pregnancy was unexpected but she was elated. She returned to Wales and Alfie was born at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, in July last year. The child was healthy and his mother's pregnancy and labour were uneventful. Six months into the pregnancy, Sullock had become friends with Pearce, a divorced father of one. They went on a number of dates but the court was told he began to display "obsessive behaviour" towards her. He had asked Sullock if she would have a baby with him, but she had rejected the idea. Before she went out on the night Alfie was attacked 16 August last year she fed, winded and changed him and left him healthy and well. At 8.43pm Pearce sent Sullock a message reading: "You can trust me you know." He told her "everything is fine" and said he was watching television. But at 9.11pm, Pearce dialled 999 and told the operator the child had stopped breathing and felt cold. The jury was shown photographs detailing 10 facial injuries to the child, as well as bruising to his abdomen. The prosecution said marks on the defendant's shoes precisely matched injuries on the child's face. Sullock told the jury Pearce seemed kind and reliable and was "fantastic" with her son, as well as being a good father to his own child. "I had no concerns," she said. "Alfie was great. He was really happy."

 He further explained: "For us, one single life lost means a lot to us because life is sacred. You cannot love God if you do not love your neighbour and if we all agree that you cannot love God if you do not love your neighbour, then why are we having all these problems?" the Sultan asked.
 Stressing that Boko Haram has now become a 'franchise' used by many to commit series of crimes, the Sultan warned that any attempt to politicise the insecurity that is confronting Nigeria will not bring solutions.
 His words: "When we politicise the security issue, there can never be a solution to it. We should not narrow it down to an ethnic or religious thing. Let us stop pointing accusing fingers and vieweing terrorism as Hausa or Fulani issue. We must all join hands to fight insecurity because by the time you feel relaxed and say they should continue to kill themselves, by the time they finished killing themselves they will now get back to you.
 "Therefore, let us collectively fight insecurity. Though, we might not know those behind this insecurity, but we should take our hands up to Almighty Allah to expose those doing these killings. We must also not pray and go to sleep. Let us continue to be proactive. Let us continue to work harder and sensitise our people on security matters."
 On how best to address the insurgents, the Sultan said, "Don't call Boko Haram 'Islamic militants'. A criminal is a criminal. Do not link him with his religion. The people doing this insecurity are very small compared to the millions of Muslims that are not in any way connected to insurgency."
 He said unhealthy rivalry among security agencies is another major setback towards tackling the situation, and cautioned that the situation where security agencies hide information from each other should be discontinued.

 Nearly 700 people have died in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia since March in what has been described as the most serious recorded outbreak yet of the virus.
 One Liberian has also died in Nigeria, raising fears that the disease could spread further across the region. Nigeria had since set up disease isolation centres at its international airports.
 The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is urging Australians to avoid areas affected by the virus and be aware that they could run into trouble if they venture into the region.
 "Australians are also advised that borders in the region may be closed at short notice to contain the outbreak," the department said in its travel bulletin.
 Those in the region should closely monitor local health advice and maintain strict standards of hygiene.
 Victims of the virus, or those suffering symptoms, should be avoided at all costs.
 Ebola has a 90 percent fatality rate and can quickly kill once contracted. There is no known vaccine or cure.
 Symptoms include high fever and weakness followed by external and internal bleeding.
 Any traveller to the region showing these signs before or after visiting should seek medical attention.

But she's ready — thanks, in part, to a baby shower.
 New photos of the bash, which took place July 12, surfaced Tuesday and the Lotus singer, 33, is in full bloom — both her belly and her floral crown. Her fiancé, Matthew Rutler, was by her side for the co-ed evening bash, which was held at the home of the singer's stylist and lasted past midnight.
 Aguilera wore a curve-hugging cream dress with a blazer on top and was barefoot for most of the night. She hung out — and snuggled with and kissed Rutler — amid the laid-back décor, including floor pillows, hurricane lanterns, and dangling paper lights.
 Party-goers also played that shower game where they guess-estimated how large Aguilera's baby belly was by cutting pieces of string that would represent the right size. Oh, those wild and crazy baby shower games!
 According to E! News, guests noshed on breaded chicken, veggie burgers, sliders, fresh salads, and mini grilled cheese sandwiches. There were cocktails — and mocktails! — served and they had cute little names like "It's Almost Time" and "Pink Cheek."
 There was also an interesting cake, which featured a woman giving birth on the floor with the baby's head (with lots of hair!) poking out. In pink lettering on the top it read, "Push, Xtina. Push.
 Aguilera, who's due in August, is thinking pink these days. She and Rutler, whom she met on the set of 2010′s Burlesque, are having a girl. (She has a 6-year-old son, Max, from her first marriage.) In an interview with People magazine in the spring, she called her pregnancy "enjoyable" and "very easy."

 Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" continues to serve up headlines and news-worthy articles. After getting a glimpse at the unaltered version of the single artwork this morning, Nicki took to Twitter to clarify who actually handled the production on "Anaconda."
 Following the release of the single artwork (the single was intended to drop on July 28th, but has since been delayed until August 4th), singer/songwriter Eric Bellinger stepped forward and spoke on the record, as he alleged that he had helped put the finishing touches on the beat alongside Polow Da Don and Da Internz. According to Nicki, this isn't true– only Polow and Da Internz did the beat.
 Eric told MTV News that "she [Nicki] went crazy." He added, "Turn up. That's it. Just turn up. The realest turn up possible."

 Asari Dokubo told reporters in Abuja that;
 "I do not work for Jonathan. What the President said was wrong. The life of Buhari is not more important than 87 people that died in that blast. It is unfortunate that the President made such a statement.
 I wonder why the President will be promoting one person above other Nigerians. That statement from the President was very unfortunate. I do not have the capacity to tell the President to apologise, but I still insist that he should not have made such a statement.
 Soon after the blast, a cross-gender person came out and was arrested. Even the mother of the person arrested said he was insane. Social media reports said I gave them N5m to carry out the attack. These things are masterminded. The first one is against President Jonathan and the other one is against me.
 I did not pay anybody to carry out any assassination attempt on Buhari. I do not have anything against him. He is not a threat. He will fail in 2015. For the records, I do not operate a Twitter account and anyone saying I tweeted that there would be more attacks is only using my name."

 A source told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: 'She was very quiet, as if she was looking on the sly.'
 The couple – who have two-year-old daughter Blue Ivy together – currently reside in a plush mansion in Tribeca, New York, and the insider believes it's highly unlikely the 44-year-old rapper would be downsizing to the 4,045-square-foot apartment in Chelsea.

 "The hospital will be shut for a week and all staff monitored to ensure the virus has not spread,"the Lagos State Health Commissioner Jide Idris said".
 Mr Idris also said the Nigerian Ambassador to Liberia, Chigozie Obi Nnadozie, three staff of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, and 55 others who had contact with the victim are closely been monitored.

Addressing a joint Ministerial Press briefing of the Lagos State Ministry of Health and Federal Ministry of Health on development concerning the disease on Monday, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, affirmed that there had only been one case of imported Ebola resulting in the death of a Liberian diplomat in Lagos. He emphasised that health authorities were being very proactive about the detection of the Ebola Virus in the Liberian, who was on his way to Calabar for a conference, by ensuring that all contacts were being actively followed. Dr Idris said part of the measures taken after the death of the Liberian was the demobilisation of the private hospital where he was admitted and elimination of primary source of infection. He stated that the decontamination process in all affected areas had commenced. "The corpse of the victim has since been cremated, and the ash is awaiting further directives from the Liberian Embassy," he said, commending the Management of the hospital for effectively detecting a high-risk patient within 24 hours. "Adhering strictly to WHO guidelines, the body of the deceased patient was decontaminated using 10% sodium hypochlorite and cremated, with the permission of the government of Liberia. Acremation urn has been prepared for dispatch to the family. The vehicle that conveyed the remains was also fully decontaminated," he added. In terms of contacts tracing, Dr Idris explained that so far a total of 59 contacts was registered consisting of 44 hospital contacts (38 healthcare workers and six laboratory staff) and 15 Airport contacts comprising 3 ECOWAS staff-driver, Liaison, and Protocol officers, Nigerian Ambassador to Monrovia, two nursing staff and five Airport passenger handlers. He further explained that out of the number, 20 contacts had been physically screened of which 50 per cent were of the type one contact and another 50 per cent had type two contacts. The Airline manifest has not been provided by the airline at the time of this report and therefore, the precise number of passenger contacts is yet to be ascertained, especially as two flights were involved (Monrovia-Lome and Lome-Lagos). There was no report of a medical incident filed. Dr Idris stated that an isolation ward was designated by the Lagos State Ministry of Health at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba for case management while the designation of three other health facilities is underway. The Commissioner also said a call-in team was established for the public to dial in and obtain information on the Ebola Virus Disease while Toll-free lines were obtained from a telecommunication service provider to be used for answering questions, creating awareness, and receiving notifications of any suspected case just as public awareness creation through social media such as Twitter and Facebook's accounts had been also activated. The President of the Nigerian Academy of Science, Professor Oyewale Tomori, who was also at the briefing said all the contact persons are being screened on a continuous basis to look for any possible signs of the disease. He commended the timely action taken by the Lagos State Government and the private hospital adding that there is absolutely no need for people to panic as the golden rule is to observe the personal hygiene of always washing the hands regularly with soap. In a statement issued after the press briefing, a spokesman for the governor of Lagos State, Mr Hakeem Bello, assured Nigerians that both the State and Federal Governments were well prepared to ensure that the Ebola Virus Disease did not spread. Also at the briefing were the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Mr Lateef Raji and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Dr Modele Osunkiyesi, Permanent Secretary, Health Services Commission, Dr Hamid Balogun and Permanent Secretary Primary Health Care Board, Dr Kayode Oguntimehin. Until now, when people see that one is breaking forth against odds or doing things that seem beyond the ordinary then others begin to tag them as witches or devil's agent.
 As far back as 1692, the Salem witch trials occurred in colonial Massachusetts, present day Denver in US. So many people, especially women (and even children), were accused of practicing witchcraft. Though there was no proof as to what they had done, they were usually burnt to death. As history would have it, it was said that those who confessed to the accusations were abandoned but those who denied or had nothing to say were persecuted. Innocent citizens were persecuted for nothing.
 There were issues in Salem society then, people who involved in acts against the law and committed crimes or those that acted against their belief weren't confronted but rather, others laid accusations that other persons were the ones spiritually instigating such acts of wickedness.
 For me right now, I know that history has a way of repeating itself, the same mistakes older generations made are the same mistakes we are making again. Instead of finding ways of confronting those issues their society faced as at that time, they looked for others upon whom they blamed their problem. If you ask me, their problems never got solved.
 If you look closely, you would discover that anything people don't understand they label as evil. If you don't think like them or you reason above them, or you make certain pronouncement that goes beyond the ordinary then you must be devil's handy man. Omo, see trouble!

 It is official, women are not permitted to wear mini skirts to Lagos based church, House on the rock.
 This was made known yesterday by the church's founder, Pastor Paul Adefarasin. He said he made decision due to frequent influx of ladies wearing distracting mini skirts to church and to avoid seduction in the church of God.
 During his sermon yesterday, Pastor Adefarasin further said:
 "I will assume that the members that do this, are probably new or uninformed ones…but we don't allow mini skirts in this church. If you must wear something short, make sure it covers your knees. Otherwise, an usher might need to come and complete your dressing."
 When Pastor Adefarasin asked for a witness, a large portion of the congregation shouted a resounding "yes".
 He also warned female choir members not to wear High-heeled shoes again.
 Should the use of mini-skirts and high-heeled shoes be abolished in Nigerian churches?

 Megan Conley talked about her blog post called Five Reasons You Should Have Sex With Your Husband Every Day, and while she told HuffPost Live that the post's title was "kind of facetious" because it's more about being intimate daily than actually having sex, she said she was committed to that idea in her own marriage.
 "I got and work out every single day. I go to Zumba and humiliate myself in front of 45 women every single day because I decided my body is worth it and I'd like to wear a swimsuit at some point, so why can't I put 15 minutes a day toward my relationship?" Conley said.
 And her spouse was more than willing to oblige.
 "It was this challenge that my husband very happily accepted, so we decided to do that for a month, and sometimes it was 15 minutes and sometimes it was several hours, and it was fantastic," she said.
 More frequent sex improved their relationship not only physically, but emotionally was well. Conley said that when her father died in February, she and her husband's dutiful work on their relationship allowed them to "see each other's souls" and communicate openly to help Conley heal.
 "As a woman, when I saw sex as something that strengthened my relationship, it became much more interesting to me," she said.

You're more forgetful than usual:You might joke about having a'senior moment'when you forget where you parked your car or miss a doctor's appointment, but make sure you're aware if it becomes more serious. No, this doesn't mean you need to panic if you've been a little more forgetful than you used to be. Increased forgetfulness is a normal part of ageing, as the brain undergoes changes around the time we turn 50. But if you start to forget how to do things you normally are able to, don't feel interested in things you once enjoyed, or if your family members are increasingly concerned about your memory, it might be time to go see a doctor to determine if it could be something more serious. In the meantime, take steps to keep your memory sharp. Make sure to get plenty of exercise, find new hobbies and interests, and use to-do-lists or other memory aids to help you remember commitments. 2. Constipation: It's estimated that two in five older adults experience some sort of age-related digestive issue each year. Constipation is one of the frontrunners. We've all experienced the uncomfortable bloating, pain, and discomfort that accompanies being irregular. Constipation can be caused by a number of factors, including not getting enough exercise (which many older adults don't), a number of medications, lack of fiber in your diet, or even certain medical conditions, including diabetes. Counter this by adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet, along with plenty of whole grains. Also, keep an eye on how much water you're drinking. Not having enough fluids can also contribute to constipation. 3. Dull, uneven skin tone: If you've noticed your skin has lost its usual luster and glow, don't write it off. It's true that cell turnover slows down with age, meaning a buildup of skin cells that leads to an uneven, dull appearance. While you may be busy banishing your wrinkles, tone shouldn't be ignored. A 2006 study found that women with uneven skin tone were perceived to be older than they really were, Plus, a duller than usual complexion could be a sign of kidney problems. Yikes. Dermatologists recommend exfoliation, either through products like scrubs, microdermabrasion treatments, or by using products containing glycolic acid, all of which can help slough off layers of dead skin cells, revealing more glowing skin underneath. As always, check with your doctor to see what works best for you. 4. Bloodshot/red eyes: You might write off your red eyes as a result of not getting enough rest or even sitting at your computer all day. But red eyes can also be caused by arthritis, which causes irritating inflammation throughout your body, including the whites of your eyes. Around one in four rheumatoid arthritis sufferers will deal with eye problems at some point. So if you have red, dry eyes and aching in your joints, it might be a good idea to consult your doctor. Remember, early treatment is critical in relieving arthritis symptoms. 5. Dry mouth: Do you wake up every morning with a parched mouth and a dry, sore throat? If it happens regularly, it could be due to a number of problems beyond just dehydration. Dry mouth is a common side effect of many medications, but can also be due to lifestyle factors like smoking, or because of conditions like autoimmune diseases. But another common and little-known cause could be sleep apnea. If you've been told you snore several nights a week (loudly), feel sleepy or even doze off during the day, or have a history of high blood pressure, consider seeing a doctor for a diagnosis.
