Edson Cholbi do Nascimento, son of Brazilian football great Pele, has been sentenced to 33 years in presence for for laundering money earned from drug trafficking.
Edinho, who played football as a goalkeeper for Santos, had previously served a jail term for drug trafficking between 2005 and 2006.
A judge had, on Friday, found him guilty of money laundering, and handed him the 33-year sentence.
While he is expected to appeal the judgement, his passports have been seized by the authorities.
