Jean Paleracio insertA woman will spend a long time behind bars after a judge called her a "sexual predator."
Jean Paleracio, 33, of Hawaii, was sentenced to 20 years in prison after she recorded herself having sex with a young boy on several occasions.
Paleracio, who worked at the Economic Opportunity Early Learning Centre, befriended the 11-year-old victim after getting to know his family.
Paleracio had sexually abused the boy over a three year period, and she recorded their sexual encounters.
In a plea deal, Paleracio pleaded no contest to sexual assault and promoting child abuse.
Prosecutor Justin Kollar said he was satisfied with the plea of no contest because it means that the victim would not be exposed to the trauma of a trial.
"The woman's actions were disgusting, predatory and cannot be tolerated in our community," Kollar said.
As a result of the plea deal prosecutors agreed to dismiss eight other class A felony charges.
Records showed that Paleracio had completed college to be in education and has no prior criminal record.
The judge said that Paleracio was someone who used to work with children and should have known that forcing a child into sexual acts will have long-term traumatic effects on him.
