Looks like the jig is up on that 'purple' stuff. On yesterday news hit the streets that the manufacturer of high-end codeine cough syrup Actavis, has gracefully bowed out the game and is removing its product from the market, indefinitely. Supposedly, Actavis has been the 'lean' of choice for artist such as Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, and many more.

The famed 'purple drink' concoction that originated in the south, has been linked to numerous artist. Lil Boosie reports he almost died from the concoction, and some suspect that lean played apart in Weezy's seizures some time back. As some of you may recall back in 2008, codeine AKA 'lean' had a major role in the death of the late great Pimp C, one half of famed Texas rap duo, UGK. A rep from Actavis spoke out publicly citing the reason for the discontinuation:
"Given [recent media attention], Actavis has made the bold and unprecedented decision to cease all production and sales of its Promethazine Codeine product. This attention has glamorized the unlawful and dangerous use of the product, which is contrary to its approved indication."
Before its discontinuation, the high-end syrup was going for about $800 per pint. Now that the supply is limited, of course the demand has skyrocketed. Soulja Boy took to Twitter to inform his fellow comrades under a photo of a countertop filled with multiple bottles of the discontinued lean with the following caption:
"Soulja got the juice. They say the streets dry. I say you gotta be kiddin me. I serve everybody." Reports say one prominent rapper in particular is offering up to $100K to get their hands on more.
