A 23-year-old musician, Mayowa Akinbowale, has been arraigned before an Abule Egba Magistrates' Court, Lagos State, for allegedly demanding cow blood at a wedding.
The accused is facing three counts of attempting to commit felony, causing a breach of peace and being in possession of charms.
The prosecutor, Inspector Rachael Williams, told the court that the offences were committed on April 11 on Shemboye Oladunni Street., Baruwa, Ipaja, Lagos State.
He said the accused demanded the blood of a cow that was slaughtered at the ceremony, but the complainant, Mrs Morenike Shemboye, the bride's mother, declined the request, compelling the accused to leave.
"The complainant sighted the accused again at the reception and asked him what he had come to do. He was arrested because he could not give a satisfactory answer.
"When the police searched his house, they found different charms,'' Williams said.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 21(1), 133(b) and 166(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty. The Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, remanded the accused in the Kirikiri Prison, and adjourned the case to April 30 for ruling on his bail application.
