The capital city of Borno state, Maiduguri, is under attack from insurgents believed to be members of the extremist Boko Haram sect.
According to residents, two thunderous explosions, suspected to be from detonated bombs, were heard in the city at about 6.15 p.m. on March 1, 2014, Saturday.Minutes ago, third explosion has been reported.
The blasts occurred at an area called Ngomari, close to old airport Maiduguri.
According to PREMIUM TIMES panic and confusion hit the city, heavy dust and smoke everywhere now, as the residents rushed their homes for safety.
It cannot be ascertained immediately if the blast was targeted at civilians.No one could also say the exact number of casualties so far, we have to wait for official announcement.The details remain sketchy, as GSM networks in the area still do not work properly:

Reports reaching NAIJ.com say that about 67 people died in Ajilari, Maiduguri, as the result of the explosions.
