Everyone knows there are certain risks involved when you decide to take nudesand/or selfies, but you would never think that death would be one of them. Two teens living in Guamúchil, Mexico, Erandy Elizabeth Gutierrez (on the left) and Anel Baez (on the right), thought it was approp to have a naked photoshoot, and it wasn't until one of them posted the pictures to Facebook that shit hit the fan.
After 16-year-old Baez uploaded the pictures online and an (obvious) dispute went down, she invited Gutierrez over to her house so they could work things out. Instead, Gutierrez pretended to go to the bathroom, grabbed a knife from the kitchen, and stabbed her "best friend" 65 times as payback. She fled the scene and was later arrested several days later at the funeral. The teen, who will be tried as a juvenile, is expected to be charged with murder later this week but may only receive a mere 7 years in jail because of her age.
While we understand that each country is entitled to their own laws and age/punishment restrictions, we think that 7 years is a gross devaluation of Baez's life. The attack doesn't seem to be out of left field either, as Gutierrez foreshadowed her aggression on her best friend by tweeting, "It may seem that I am very calm, but in my head I have killed you at least three times." Um, terrifying. Thoughts are with the family of the young girl who's life was taken over this tragic social media no-no.
