The man of Hong Kong, was arrested with lots of cash strapped to his body.
The man attempted to smuggle more than half a million dollars across the border in Shenzhen, China.
The man was trying to cross the border around 12:00 p.m., when the Sha Tau Kok customs officials stopped him because he acted suspiciously.
When border agents opened his luggage for inspection, the man "abruptly abandoned the bag and ran outside," according to police.
Agents ran after the man and detained him. Officers conducted a full body search and found cash strapped to his body.
Police later revealed that he had been carrying $580,000 in bags that were strapped to his body.
A photo posted online showed thick stacks of $100 dollar bills tied to the man's lower legs, hidden under his jeans. He also had money wrapped around his waist.
Chinese law stipulates travelers are allowed to carry up to $5,000 worth of foreign currency without submitting a declaration form.
In another incident, a Hong Kong resident was fined nearly $1 million after he was arrested trying to smuggle $5.5 million.
He later told police that he intended to use the money to buy a house, and that he did not use a wire transfer service because he wanted to save the 5 percent commission.
