The Department of Public Works inSouth Africahas confirmed the museum of late South African leader Nelson Mandelain Qunu, Eastern Capeis to be given a multimillion renovation after falling into a state of disrepair over the past few years.
With over R15M budgeted for the renovation, the repairs will take effect from the amphitheatre roof at the youth and heritage centre, where security control and new chalets will also be built.
The museum's marketing and communications manager,Nokuzola Tetanisaid the museum, which has created an avenue for international visitors over the past year, will be reshaped to welcome even more international visitors.
The museum documents the family life of Mandela, who died on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the age 95 after suffering from a prolonged respiratory infection, with audio extracts from his book,Long Walk to Freedom.
