Starboy Wizkid made a grand breaking entry into the music industry about 5 years ago with his hit single ‘Holla At Your Boy’ and the a subsequent album that placed him among the most sought after musicians in the country.
The arrival of Wizkid had so many effect on teenagers who were motivated by him and wanted to become like the star. Wizkid was on his way to becoming the future and the face of Nigerian music.
The endorsements started pouring in, oversea tours and multiple collabos. Wizkid became a force that could not be ignored. Every song he featured in became a hit and we waited patiently for another album as he kept winning awards.
Suddenly, Wizkid’s songs started sounding too similar and a new preference for Davido’s style of music started to grow. Then the controversies and beefs and in no time, Wizkid’s popularity began to wane.
After the release of his sophomore album ‘Ayo’, Wizkid hasn’t enjoyed so much acceptance as he used to with awards snubbing him on different occasions and favouring Davido.
Recently Wizkid was reported to have stormed out of the Headies 2014 venue even though he later denied it. In the last one year, Wizkid hasn’t picked up any popular award and the music industry seems to have turned its back on the singer.
